Education System

GCSE (2 years): The GCSE programme lasts two years. Core subjects include English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students can also choose from a wide range of optional subjects, including Art and Design, Astronomy, Computer Science, Drama, Economics, Geography, Music, Psychology, Modern Foreign Languages, and many more.

Year 9 (1 year): Year 9 at Concord College is a one-year preparatory programme before GCSE. The curriculum focuses on building a strong academic foundation. Subjects include English, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Computer Science, Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education, Design and Technology, and Modern Foreign Languages.

A Level (2 years): A Level is a two-year advanced academic programme designed to prepare students for leading universities. Students typically choose 3–4 subjects to study in depth. Concord College offers a broad range of subjects, including Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Computer Science, History, Geography, English Literature, Art, and Modern Foreign Languages.

In the GCSE examinations, 87% of all grades achieved were 7–9, while 57% were awarded the highest grade, 9. In the same year, 83% of A Level grades were A/A*, with 49% achieving the highest grade, A*.

Duration of Study

The length of study varies between 2 and 5 years, depending on the programme in which the student enrolls:

• The academic year begins in early September and ends in late June.

• The school year consists of three academic terms: Autumn Term, Spring Term, and Summer Term.

• Each term includes a one-week Half-Term Break.

Application Dates

• Applications open from September, one year before the intended year of entry.

• There is no fixed application deadline. Applications are accepted until all places are filled.

• The application process begins approximately 14 months before the start of the academic year and remains open online throughout the year.

• Admission offers are generally issued starting in October.

• Submission of recent school reports and academic transcripts.

• Successful completion of the Concord College online entrance examination.

• Year 9 and GCSE applicants are required to take English, Mathematics, and Critical Thinking examinations.

• A Level applicants must sit entrance examinations in their chosen subjects (an English test may also be required where applicable).
