Dortmund is in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany's 8th largest city; It has the atmosphere of a real "student city" with its eight different universities. Formerly an industrial/coal-steel city, today Dortmund has transformed into a young, lively and student-friendly identity — meaning it offers both big city opportunities and a more affordable cost of living compared to metropolises such as Istanbul/Berlin.
