Basic Information about the Technical University of Munich (TUM)
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is a world-renowned university with a rich history dating back to 1868. Founded by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, TUM was originally established as a polytechnic and was officially renamed the Royal Bavarian Technical University of Munich in 1877. TUM is one of the oldest and most respected technical universities in Germany, known for its excellent teaching and groundbreaking research.

TUM's main building was designed by architect Gottfried von Neureuther, using Kelheim limestone as the building material.
