Basic Information about the Technical University of Munich (TUM)
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is a world-renowned university with a rich history dating back to 1868. Founded by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, TUM was originally established as a polytechnic and was officially renamed the Royal Bavarian Technical University of Munich in 1877. Preparatory Education (Studienkolleg)
Scope: If your high school diploma and YKS result are not deemed sufficient for direct undergraduate education according to the German education system, you must take a 1-year preparatory education (Studienkolleg) before starting your education at TUM and pass the aptitude test (Feststellungsprüfung - FSP) at the end of the semester.
Requirements: To be accepted to the preparatory school, you must have at least B2 level German knowledge and Studienkolleg entrance. It is mandatory to be successful in the exam (Aufnahmetest).
Direct Undergraduate Application Conditions
Academic Equivalence (HZB): A high school diploma in Türkiye and a document showing that you have been placed in a 4-year undergraduate program with YKS (TYT/AYT) are required. If your grade point average and high school course content are sufficient, you will be entitled to start directly from the first year.
Aptitude Assessment: TUM makes a two-stage evaluation for undergraduate applications. If the scoring based on your high school grades and YKS score is deemed sufficient, you will be directly accepted; If you are in the intermediate score, you will be called for an interview or written exam.
Master's Degree Application Requirements
Undergraduate Diploma and Transcript: Undergraduate degree and detailed course contents (Syllabus) from a well-known university that has direct academic compatibility with the applied department.
Department Evaluation: In addition to the grade point average in master's degree applications, the letter of intent, academic aptitude test (GRE/GMAT may be requested) and interview stages are critical.
Language. Proficiency
German Programs: A C1 level language certificate is required to start directly. TestDaF (at least 4 from each section), DSH-2/3, Goethe C1/C2 or telc C1 Hochschule documents are accepted.
English Programs: IELTS (minimum 6.5) or TOEFL iBT (minimum 88) score is required for undergraduate or graduate programs that teach in English.

uni-assist (VPD): Before applying to TUM, your diplomas and transcripts must be converted through uni-assist and a VPD (Vorprüfungsdokumentation) document must be obtained.
