Dundalk Grammar School is a private, co-educational and boarding high school, one of the longest-established schools in Ireland, founded in 1739. The school has a single education system. It consists of 3 interconnected periods: Lower Secondary Education Program (Junior Cycle), Transition Year and Senior Cycle.

-Lower Secondary Education Program (3 years): It is the first stage of secondary education and is the program in which basic academic knowledge and skills are gained.
-Transition Year Program (1 year): It is a transition year that aims for students to gain personal development, leadership, social responsibility and work experience.
-Upper. Secondary Education Program (2 years): This is the program in which students prepare for Leaving Certificate exams and university education.

Accommodation

Dundalk Grammar School offers students 5-day boarding accommodation on campus. While students stay in the school dormitory on weekdays, they spend weekends in host families organized by the school. In the boarding building with a capacity of approximately 100 students, male and female students are accommodated in separate sections, and 24-hour supervision and support is provided by the experienced boarding life team. Guardian support and host family organization are also offered for international students.
