Preparatory Education

FH Aachen has a Freshman Program for students coming from education systems that do not provide direct university entrance rights in Germany, such as Türkiye. The program lasts approximately 1 academic year and prepares the student for undergraduate education in Germany. Depending on the department they choose, students can progress through educational paths such as T-Course for engineering/science fields and W-Course for business and economics fields. The program includes German, English, mathematics, field courses, academic study skills and preparation for transfer to university. Additionally, services such as accommodation, health insurance, learning materials, pick-up from Düsseldorf Airport and support for university applications are also included in the program package.

2026/27 Freshman Program applications have been completed. Online applications for 2027/28 are planned to begin in October 2026, with entrance exams in autumn 2026.

Freshman Program (Preparatory Year) Admission

Education Certificate: High School Diploma and Transcript.

Entrance Exam (Freshman Entrance Test): Online or face-to-face Mathematics and English/German placement test organized by the university.

Language Requirement: English or German at the beginner level is sufficient (Passing the entrance exam is essential).

FH Aachen students can benefit from the university sports system run together with RWTH Aachen. There are up to 100 different sports, more than 2,000 instructor courses per year, more than 800 trainers and 14 major sports events. In addition to basketball, football, tennis, climbing, swimming, yoga and various water sports, sports tournaments are organized throughout the year. The university also has a Big Band and a university choir. Students can also take part in racing teams such as Team Aixtreme Racing and solar-powered vehicle projects such as Team Sonnenwagen.

Student Dormitories:

Monthly Dormitory Fee: Approximately 280 € – 450 €.

Shared House / Private Room:

Monthly Fee: Approximately 380 € – 600 €.

FH Aachen is located in Aachen, Germany, on the border of Belgium and the Netherlands. Aachen is a complete technology and student city with its historical texture and huge student population provided by RWTH Aachen and FH Aachen universities. The Jülich campus is a quiet and science-oriented district located approximately 30 km from Aachen, hosting the Forschungszentrum Jülich facilities, one of the largest research centers in Europe.
