University West is a modern university that offers educational opportunities in collaboration with business life, with an attractive educational environment. The university has approximately 15,000 students and 625 employees. The campus is located in the center of the city of Trollhättan, close to cafes, cinemas, restaurants and sports facilities, but also very close to beautiful views. The campus was built in line with the needs of the students.
University West is built on the principle of acquiring knowledge not only in the classroom, but everywhere. The integration of business life, called Work Integrated Learning, with education programs exemplifies the important relationship between the university and the outside world. Work Integrated Learning provides students with many opportunities to learn from real working conditions such as project work, field work, consulting projects and sometimes even job placements.
At University West, students experience an open-minded and informal work environment. Usually students and instructors address each other by their names. This approach promotes dialogue and collaboration between students and instructors, thereby enabling opportunities for new ideas and innovations. Unlike many other universities, international programs at University West have a small scale character. A relatively high teacher-to-student ratio makes academic staff easily accessible to answer questions, discussions, and feedback.
About Trollhättan: The University of West is located in the city of Trollhättan, near the west coast in the south of Sweden, a 35-minute train journey from Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden. The city of 55,000 inhabitants is divided into two by its magnificent waterfalls and the Göta river. You don't need to waste time in traffic queues or feel stressed in overcrowded subways. As a student at Trollhättan, everything you need is very close by. Within a few minutes' walk from the campus, you will find yourself facing beautiful and natural scenery. Trollhättan is home to many high-tech companies such as GKN Aerospace (producing jet engines and developing rocket engine technology) and NEVS (National Electric Vehicle Sweden - developing its own platform for the next generation electric cars at the former SAAB Automobile plant).
